Conditioned air is good for demisting your windscreen regardless of its temparature, so long as its not too cold.

a/c in cars do not heat they only cool by a condensor and a compress which is usually driven buy a belt.

My ecotec 1.4 corsa heated up well quick, i always thought it was due to the engine almost filling up the engine bay so then heats up quicker.

modern range rovers have oil heaters that heat up VERY quickly as soon as you turn the key.

quote: I'm pretty sure I've been in a Jag that had heating that didn't come from the engine coolant... Could be completely wrong though, but it's the sort of thing I could imagine in a luxury car (so you could have heat instantly).

If your trying to warm your car up in the morning then turn the heat up and leave the AC off

quote: F**K IT! I've bought a warmer jacket instead. The light on the AC button comes on when you pull it out - therefore, when its out, its on. :| Not quite sure we're on the same lines.

I was under the impression that a/c had nothing to do with heat? If I remember I'll have a look in my Astra car manual (ie. from Vauxhall, the one that came with the car) as I'm sure that's what it said in there?!

WTF  if the AC knob is pulled out it will over ride the fact that its on HOT and blow out cold air  just turn knob to hot and leave AC off

Air con works for heating as well, because the air coming out of the heaters when the air con on is normally condensed and so called fresher I use it to de-mist the windows.

surely aircon is only used for cold air not hot???

ok not too sure what you are asking here because the heating and A/C system on the Corsa is seperate. Heating system is controlled by engine coolant flowing through a heater matrix which is then blown through the vents via a fan, the A/C system is controlled by condensers and radiator which sits with the engine radiator. If its not blowing A/C cold air or hot air, i would suggest there is a problem with pipework somewhere...
