This is as quoted from BT as i saw exactly teh same issue in work, for quite a few networks.

"The core BT network has been involved in a high order network failure due to a massive fibre failure in the rochdale area."

Basiacally some one has gone nuts with a digger and F Ucked it.

I am on a BT connection and it's working for me now.

Do you think it's because I'm special? :o

Tonight at 17:50 users on BT OpenWorld ADSL connections were unable to connect to our server's network.

This looks like a BT network-wide problem, and because of the significant number of our users who have BT Internet access we are posting this acknowledgment.

There were no problems with our network, but it appears that there was an internal issue at BT of which we do not have details of currently. All users on other providers were able to access our facilities. BT restored full service at approximately 18:10.
