btt, can anyone else offer any help about the size of the oe sensor? etc, like whta size t-piece i need?

is it not definatey in a similar place on the x14xe then?
what should i look for when i llok for it?

I havnt looked yet as im still making a custom housing for the gauge

No problem pal.

Fraid the only thing I cant help you with is a pic! The last Vauxhall I did was a 2.0xe and as I said it was under the air idle contriol valve down the back of the engine.

Ptfe is very thin white 'plastic' tape, the sort you use to seal plumbing work etc, you'll know it when you see it. It just creates a good seal for the bolt cos oil will try its best to get out of anywhere!

The T-piece will be metal matey.

You can just get rid of the OE sensor if you want but I like to keep them just to be on the safe side! If you dont use the oe sensor then if your lucky the new one will bolt straight into the hole. If not then you will have to buy some sort of reducer/enlarger.

what does PTFE mean?

can i not just buy a t-piece from halfords?
will it be metal? sorryif i sound reallythick.

The gauge i have is from auto gauges. says thread size 1/8 -27 NPT

Sorry, by pressure switch I just mean the sensors that screw into the T-piece. You will have two - The original one and the one supplied with your kit.

Thats it John, its dead easy really just a bit fiddly!!!

As far as which one to buy Im not sure. Somewhere like Demon tweeks will have one specific for the Corsa I think. The bolt from the T-piece that screws into the block of the car will be tapered anyway(like this \/ ) so it will fit thread diameters from say 14mm up to 20mm. Thats why you need to PTFE it and dont do it too tight cos it will carry on tightening til it splits the block. Your new sensor should be the same shape aswell, the only one that will be a specific size will be the OE sensor!

ah so scre the t-piece into the b;lock, then run both sensors of the t-piece?

What sort of t-piece should i look at buying??

Was just wondering really? I went for them in my old XE'd Corsa just cos they looked cool really. I think the oil temp is my best one followed by charge temp. Its mad just how long the oil takes to warm up, usually twice as long as coolant plus the P1 engines run hot and suffer bottom end damage if it gets too hot.

In the Preza Ive got friggin loads (paranoid y'see) cant even see through the screen! :lol:

Oil pressure
Boost
EGT
Injector Duty
Knock correction (ignition advance)
Charge temp
Throttle position
Ambient temp
AFR
Knocklink

Hehe, its a fnarkin nightmare!!!!

stu, i went for oil pressure and water temp, mocal advised those two over oil pressure and oil temp.... say pressure gauges are more important!

Original sender IIRC is screwed into the block under the inlet manifold at the back of the engine, probably best attacked from below.

You need a T piece first if you are going to run the OE pressure sensor and the aftermarket one together (I would personally!)

1) Locate pressure switch
2) Unplug wire
3) Remove from block with a spanner
4) Screw in the T-Piece using ptfe tape on bolt (as bolt is usually tapered)
5) Screw the OE pressure sensor into one of the holes on the T-piece
6) Screw new sensor into the other hole on the T-Piece
7) Plug wires onto the two sensors (OE with OE wires and new sensor with wires supplied)
8) While your under the car, fire it up and check for leaks
9) Feed new wire through the bulkhead and plug it into the back of the new gauge.
10) New gauge will also need a switched live so it will light up with when your ignition or lights (up to you) are turned on

Hope this helps? BTW how come you are going for an oil pressure gauge?
