not really true considering you can run any gear box on any engine.
as you will know.

small blocks are smaller in size and generally have the oil filter in a different place than the big blocks

when talking about vauxhall engines anything using the f16+ g'box is a big block, and below is a small block....

i dont actually understand the sense of the words big block and small block, apart from the gearbox design. big block and small block simply means whether american derived V8's are greater or smaller than 6000cc.

c20xe is a big block, i work it out off the gear box that fits it, anything f16+is a big block....

Just reading a thread in H&M Zone on here and noticed people talking about big blocks and small blocks and whether a 1.8 is a small block or a big block.

What makes an engine either a small block or a big block? Is it down to the capacity or is it something else? :o
