do what i done, buy the springs (i got 60mm) and put them on, i did about 500 miles untill i could afford a set of front dampers, then when i got enough money i brought the rear shocks.

its not soo much bone jarring more like driving on a bouncy castle

mine never fell out of their own accord, but you could pull them out when the rear beam was dangling. i guess it depends on the spring design.

my view on the situation is that if your short of money and its a debate wether to replace the shocks as well and could put up with the ride comfort, then leave the standard ones on untill they die, then uprate to better spec units.
if you don't get on with the ride or want better handling then swap for higher springs or get better shocks.

^^^ agreed, known quite a few ppl to run 60mm springs on standard shocks and they havent fallen out

In my younger days I had many a nova dropped 60mm on standard shocks and some of my driving was adventerous....cant say that my springs ever fell out...

You can have the back jacked up and the rear axle with no support underneath and the springs are still a snug fit.

Has anyone *ever* actually had the springs fall out or is this a tale thats been getting told for years..passed on from generation to generation :boggle:

they can, but only if you boot it over a a high rise bridge so on..

They can fall out as you go over crest of bridges etc.

can you not just do the job right if your gonna do it? save you spending more ££ in the long run when it fucks up

Dave86

highly unlikely to fall out unless i am booting it along

if go over hump back bridge springs could come out, also can damage flow where springs fit. not advised!!go for 40mm without shocks

They're designed to last maybe 50k miles, you might kill them in less.

rear springs could possibly fall out when you jack up the rear

i found it to be a very bouncy ride, not harsh though, still quite soft.

Not if you don't like your bones.

Dampers will probably fail prematurely and it will drive terribly.

have a 60mm drop on standard shocks and dampers??:boggle:
