Mmm your swaying me.... there is a Full M3 lookalike near me on autotrader 328i looks the b0ll0x, very clean, 68K on the clock for £5,600 .... Could make an wasome Cally for that but there is a guy across the road from me with a old 325i with exhuast on and it sounds awsome.. :)

Some of the guys over at e36coupe.com are getting recorded 6 sec to 60 with their 328's. Also there is huge potential tuning options the most popular being a supercharger kit, but the site sponsors make modified manifiolds and throttle boddies which have proven over 230hp on a standard 328.

My 328 will batter a calibra. Its not quick of the line, 0-60 in just over 7 but once its moving you need a serious car to catch it. And its not that bad on fuel, 30mpg no probs. Never let me down, doesn't cost much to maintain.....its great.

Very tempted but people have told me they are slow. need something quick or tunable.... not sure about them really...although the M3 above looks hard as fcuk... Also they look like they would take alot of work to make look stunning whereas the calibra would just be wheels, lowered, exhaust and maybe change the back lights... already got the leathers and aircon heated seats etc.. all for around £2.500 with 48K on the clock... the Beemers are 5grand+ and you'd need to do quite a bit to make them not look like on old 3 serise... bet the 328 drinks fue, wont be quickl and aint reliable and sourcing part will be more difficult etc... mite be wrong though!

quote:Thats a myth, they aren't as bad as people make out. If the 'box is maintained and the oil is kept topped up then it can't really break to easily. It is electronically controlled so that if it thinks it is going to overheat or something it will shut itself down and take a nap for a while. When they break it's due to a lack of serivicng.

Im not talking about m3's maybe a 325 or 328 but they can be had nowadays for only a bit more than a decent cally. Insurance is group 14 and 15 iirc for the 325 and 328 so the same as a redtop.

quote: What kind of a comparison is that?. He wants something he can work on himself and tune, not something thats gonna cost him a fortune to tinsure and Run, let alone the initial cost being about 10 times as much .

Yeah, thats why im looking at the 2.0L 16V.. or V6... then tune it myself and get my mechanic friends to look after it as its an easy engine to work on... :)
