Have a Mk1 Ph2 Clio 16v at the moment that I am having to sell due to it having cost me ridiculous amounts in repairs to keep running. I know the Punto is a bit slower than the Clio, what insurance group is it? And what are the basic running costs like- MPG, reliability etc?

Be grateful for any info. Cheers peeps.

Bit slower than the Clio? Nope, maybe off the mark but not once rolling

I know what you mean about the Clio 16v being a nightmare for parts etc, I know people around here that have spent ££££ on gearboxes, headgaskets etc

expect the usual wee problems with turbo cars...... split boost pipes etc... nothing major.

I bought mine for 1k with 93k on the clock, no MOT, no TAX.....

serviced it every 2k miles (over kill), had it running about 19psi... FMIC etc.... was a very quick wee car... and didnt suffer any serious problems.

Sold it for 1.8k with 97k on the clock.....

Problems i did have:

Had an appetite for plugs.... not a major hassle though. Car ran much better on fresh plugs anyway.
boost leak - main boost pipe, replaced it with a stainless pipe
leaking rocker gasket - just let it seep, and cleaned everynow and then

test drive them and come to your own conclusion. a GT will be fine if it has been looked after
