Would be for home use ,or when im near to a mains outlet only really.Looking at a refurbished P4 3Ghz on ebay at the mo,think its goin to finish around 380.

If you are planning to use it mobile and on battery power, Centrino is best. Generates less heat and uses less power so battery lasts longer. Quoted speeds are equivalent to twice speed for P4s - so a 1.4GHz Centrino will give you around about the same performance as a 2.8GHz P4.

Some laptops have desktop P4 processors - if you're getting a machine just for home use or mostly connected to mains power, then these are OK as you'll probably get a fast processor machine at a decent price.

What are the best processors around at the moment?
Looking at P4 but wondered if any others were any good?
