Can you access the drives under safe mode? If so, try that and bung a DVD in, see if it works then. | |

You installed anything recently that make use of the drives? Maybe that is conflicting with them... | |

unplugged devices removed them from system and booted up then shut down reattached and started over. still nothing | |

both my DVD reader and my DVD RW will not recognise DVD's but they will recognise CD. CDRW, CDR etc. totally puzzelled |
