just bought my new one from the local motor factors and it cost £45 but vauxhall wanted £85 without the gasket and £89 with so not that bad i thought.nevermind at least its fixed now.fingers crossed that it was that and not my head gasket.ill let you know in a bit when ive put the new one in.cheers for your help guys. :thumbs:

I'm getting a cooler-running one for £23.50 for my X16XE, as I need to replace the gasket anyways as its leaking, so might aswell do the thermo aswell!

last week i payed £20 for one that went into my 2ltr from vauxhaull

I didn't, just took it out and its not running a thermostat. Has been for 14K and is fine.

ive already got the old one out and ive tested it and its knakered so thats y i need a new one got one froma local car shop but its the wrong one so now i need to get the right one and i thought it might be more expensive as it is the whole housing aswell...how much did u pay?cheers

Just the housing and thermostat. Its a doddle to do, just follow your haynes manual.

has any one replaced the thermostat on a x14xe before?i know how to do it but i was jus wondering wot kind of price i should pay for the actual thermostat itself?i know it is integral to the housing as it says so in haynes.so how much ppl?
