Just buy a router with a built-in modem.

I've got a Linksys wireless G broadband router/modem thing, it works in any part of the house with no loss of signal!

yea looks like that one will just 'broadcast' the net independently of the main pc being on or not.....

if thats what you mean?

ok then, if i buy this one:

http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&category=44997&item=5771744730&rd=1

will it connect to a PC with a modem connected or connect to the modem itself?

i DONT want one where u need to have a pc one that is connected to the net to access the net on any other pc

make sense?

Modem connects to the router but otherwise, yes.

Or is that two PCs plus a laptop plus the car = 4 computers?

Either way card for each, plus the router.
