yeh i kno :(

think it has been in an accident b4 tbh, dont really care tho. my strips aren even on the car atm, since it got broken into i got em proffesionally sprayed along with the doors and handles. jus haven bothered puttin em bk on :P

Seriously - anything with a wide stripe isn't standard. Old people can buy second hand cars as well you know. ;)

Don't forget, merit/envoy didn't even have a stripe so if they've bought the car in 2001 and asked the dealer to be a nice man and put a stripe on so it doesn't get dented in Tesco, he might have ordered a thick one.

It doesn't necessarily suggest big accident damage although if I was buying one I'd possibly have a sneaky peak behind it see if there was a paint seam.

I'm fairly sure the stripe should carry a date marker like this, manufactured in March 98.



Old bits don't have the earlier years moulded in there.

Dave - that latest pic looks like the stripe is sloping down at the back, clearly not a factory job!

some pre '97 models had fat black strips M-reg GLS has them :thumbs:

why do some have red and some have black fat 1's?

i personally much pref the red 1s - is there n e differs between sports? is the red strip an extra or sumit lol?
