If its loose it will drain the battery hence it wotn run!!

Only had the one 13mm, so it took a little cursing and knuckle scraping to get the bastid to sit right!!

fcuk knows how mechanics do that all day, if thats an easy job I hate to think what the fiddly sh!t is like!!

I did feel a small sense of acheivement when she fired up again though :D

Nah there is a loose connection for half the dash. It dissapears, then re-appears as and when it feels like it. Will fix it one day!

For now its sorted though, I hunted down a 13mm spanner and moved alternator back to tighten the fan belt belt.

Then jump started her up first time :D

doesnt the fan belt keep the battery running? if the fan belts gone and the battery is/was dying then surely that would explain the digi dash not operating properly???

normally the battery light would come on for a fan belt snapping....

anyways new belt and either charge or buy a new battery....

Half my digi-dash dissapeared over the weekend so petrol, battery, and oil pressure lights have all gone on holiday for now!

hmm... maybe something more complicated wrong there so...

Right, just had a chance to take a proper look.

I already knew the belt was slack... but this is ridiculous!! Its looser than a drunk essex girl

a snapped fan belt does make the engine management come on.........has the belt definitely snapped then??

The fan belt on my old GTE has been doing a little screeching recently (put down to wet weather)

but I just came back from lunch and the little engine management light came on... my stereo made a nasty crackle and went off... and then as I got back to work it was coughing spluttering and generally running like a dog, so I let the revs drop....... and the engine cut out

now it wont even turn over!

So this is probably a stupid question, but I take it my battery just went dead...? Would this cause the engine management to make an appearance and the car to run like a pig? And will a set of jump leads save the day?

Thankingyou please
