AFAIK Ai-Net only allows one device at a time, so you need the adaptor to let you plug in multiple toys like iPod, cd changer, etc.

yes you need the adaptor rly, dno how alpine works but for time being ive got my bus cable still plugged into the cd changer but run the rca's to the dvd rather than the cd changer, so headunit still thinks its playing from cd changer but its coming from dvd as ive changed audio leads over, dno if that would work on alpine coz i dno if its just one lead or it has seperate rca's mines sony btw.

i've got the 9832 i'm thinking it should be near enough the same. all u need is a extra lead that plugs into a socket at the back (not into the cd changer socket) and then u plug your device i.e dvd player, into the lead via phono's.
