Olly, the profile on the side of the tyre isn't measuerd in mm's, its a percentage of the width. So a 205/40 has higher profile sides than a 195/40

Also shell tolerances differ from shell to shell, so some are ok other aren't.
Just do as they say and all will be well,

vaux sell softstars in 16's but you have to get low profile tyres otherwise they wount fit them. i would say the tyres are 50 profile.

I will have to have a look at the tyres tonight, I did notice that they have extremely large tyre walls so could be a 50 rather than 45mm like mine.

grind the Arc screws right back or even take the top 2 out and use sickaflex sealent on the arch i did this on my corsa and my 17s never rubbed and was lowered 40mm

i would take the arch bolys out and bond the arches on, or just beat the lip with a hammer!
Toyo proxes and falken ze251 or whaveter they are have a very curved wall which will help!

you need 195/45/16 i am guessing she has 205/45 off a diff vaux hence the rubbing :( either change the tyres or take the bolts off the plastic arch

i have ET35 rim loweed 60mm and it dont rubb :boggle:

what tyres?

PaulW

yes lower-profile tyres should solve this...

was same with my 15's on old corsa... 50-profile tyres scuffed like a bitch & tbh wouldnt fit... 45 profiles didnt scuff or rub, even with people in the back.

Red_SXi

What size tyres are they then? And what make? some are less rounded on the edge

Ojc

posted on 9th Nov 04 at 11:23

I believe its the size of the tyre, they have massive tyre walls.

And they are rubbing on the screws in the arch, but surely they should'nt? Vauxhall sell Softstars for the Corsa in 16's?

See my point?

What do they actually rub on ?

PaulW

posted on 9th Nov 04 at 11:14

are they rubbing on the arch or the inner bit of the car??

size / profile tyres used?

LukeGSi

How fat are the people in the back?

Ojc

Rachels Speedline Alessio 2's rub on the back with two people in the car?

Now these are ET49 and its lowered 40mm, so nothing drastically low.
