Thing is after a download my tune or whatever i use winamp to play it back.

When i use a program to convert to mp3 i cant cos it dont reconise the file.
Need to change the file to wav. first before i can convert them to mp3.

Is this right?

Like plugging a wire into the headphone plug and then into the microphone plug and then telling sound recorder to record the file as a .wav file, then compress it to an Mp3?

Wav to MP3 is just compression - easy enough.

Wav or MP3 to MIDI is very hard. MIDI files are sequenced instructions to something which will generate tones. Listening to a file to derive the instructions usually requires some fairly specialist processing.

Does anyone know how to do this?

Or have and know where to get a program that does this?

Cheers.
