To keep insurance premiums to a minimum, try insuring them as a second car, limited mileage, personal use only, garaged overnight, etc.

And move house - live in the middle of nowhere.

don;t be stupid Joff. why phone for a quote when you can post on here and ask what other people pay

age isnt the only factor in the insurance game

postcode, previous convictions, points, accidents and claims, kept in a garage, driveway or roadside, car modifications, what car you had last in some cases

adrian flux wanted me to do only 20k miles a year and i bet i dont even do half that, i've done 4,500 miles in 7months this year

Also, people aren't listing their excess.

No point having a £800 premium if you've got another £500 on top of that as voluntary excess, plus another £150 for being a young driver and oh, you're claiming on a Wednesday? That'll be another £50 for the mid-week penalty....

Pointless.

I need to buy some new trainers - what shoe size are you?

You see there is a point, people are paying £1000 on 2.0 turbo corsa's at 20, i'm 20 and most insurance co's wont even quote me on my fez with a rs turbo engine,
I really want a 2.0/2.0 turbo corsa for my next car and didnt look like it was gonna happen, but now i see its possible but i need to know how to do it,

So how do you people manage to get cover?

The question's been asked before. He's been a registered member for nearly 2 years, he should know this already and should know where the search function is.

You can't make any comparison whatsoever with insurance companies - the whole point of getting a "quote" is that insurance brokers will negotiate a price with the underwriters based on your circumstances and most importantly, what they feel they can get away with charging you for your premium.
