induction cone you'll get the sound you want just make sure you shield it somehow from the heat from engine and a few ducts t it m8.

IMHO drilled air boxes are for pikies..............:o:D

had one on our 1.2 8v actually did make a difference but then it needs all the help it can get

^

I drilled the air box on my 1.2 8v when I first got it (read it on here)

Seemed ok, but I bought a K+N Cone and mounted it in a new Airbox.

Did a world of good with more air filtering thru and a nice note.

Pro's = None

Cons = Youll ruin your airbox. Youll loose performance. Itl cost money to buy another airbox.

 This is by far THE silliest mod bar neon washer jets. An air box is a SEALED unit. For a reason. If u drill holes in it, you fuck it up basically, lettin in all the hot air in your engine bay.

Invest in some serious heatsheilding and a cone. or leave it

it's sealed to keep noise levels down. making the hole bigger means the engine don;t have to suck to hard

I've recently taped the air box up and prefer the ride now.

Just out of curiosity....now that you have taped up the box, did it pass recent MOTs ???

my personal experience with drilled air box on a 1.4 sri are mixed.

drilled the air box (on the bottom and side oppsite the engine bay.... therefore minimal amount of engine heat being sucked up)
my car ran more smoothly as u rev'd through the gears....
also there was more sound cuming from the front (and it did sound pretty nice for a small mod like that.... it didnt sound cheap and nasty)

however.... my car seemed to drink far more petrol than before and my car failed its MOT on emissions test (maybe due to a crap air to petrol mixture)

I've recently taped the air box up and prefer the ride now.

just to comment.... i've seen LOADS and LOADS of ppl putting induction kits on without shielding nor proper ducting..... therefore the amount of hot air they are sucking up would be FAR greater than a properly drilled air box
at the end of the day.... if u descide that drilling ur air box was a bad idea.... then get some duck tape and tape the holes back up (or better still, buy a second hand one for a quid)

IMO

Read that tutorial for a start mate, should give you a better idea. Any other questions just post them up in here, ignore the negative comments.
