it only does it when you lift off the throttle at about 3k and above
think ill change the oil again in a few months and put 15w 40 in

I can't really hear the tapping inside the car, only when I open the bonnet and look at it - my mate has a 1.2 16v GLS same as yours and his taps louder than mine :P

I think the cam chain also adds to the noise a bit in X12XE's... at the moment as I pass about 4.5k rpm I get a high pitch noise rather than exhaust noise - as it leans out :(

My dad says the same :lol: We both think the tapping makes it sound like it's steam driven when it's off throttle :lol:

yeh taps a lot on my 50,435 mile engine... think it might just be injector chatter - or whatever... :rolleyes:

I said to my dad the other day about how slow my car is these days... he replied 'To be fair, you do push it quite hard' ... :rolleyes:

mine taps, always has seince new, been told its the injectors solonoids ticking on and off????

i think as they get older they tap a bit more, my old one (90oddK) used to do it a bit when it was at high revs...

my new one (1.6 16v with 42K) on it is as quite as you like :D

vauxhall 10w 40 its running

hmmm ill run it for a week see if it stops
engine has been standing for a couple of weeks

my c20xe rattles when i come off the throttle at high revs.
my civic did this also. on the civic it was a loose catalyser heat sheild. easy fix.

not sure about the xe though. haven't investigated fully yet.

Only noise mine makes on throttle-off is if I slam the throttle shut so quickly I get a noise out my induction kit... :boggle:

do any 16v's make the niose what mine makes?

i use 10w40 on my 100k er, its fine

what grade oil ya using adam, i found that 15w 40 quietened mine down a treat

when its idling is quiet
when its being driven its quiet

just off throttle it sounds...

just had a oil flush and change with vaux stuff

mines taps quite a bit when its due for an oil change?? apart from that it seems ok....

when i lift off the throttle i can hear either the tapttes or cams

is this normal on throttle is sounds amazing and pulls strongly but when i lift of i hear what sounds like tapptets goin nuts "cause of the revs"

does it at any revs and any speed.

i think its normal but going from 8v's to 16v's i need some reasurance :D
