no headunit is good enuff to drive decent comps properly, u will always need an amp.

For decent comps u want 100W RMS a channel, even the best alpine hu's only deliver 26w RMS a channel.

im assuming that top of the range one would be more than enough to drive a set of comps without need for another amp

Get the 2004 replacement for the 9812, its deffo worth the extra money.

Great head unit, Ive got the top 1 and my mates got the bottom 1(in black tho) Id say get the bottom 1 if you take your ICE seriously (subs an amps etc) I just wanted to listen to CD's so top 1 suits my needs. Both cracking headunits tho:thumbs:
