Also, if/when you get the "RPC Shutdown" message again, do the following to cancel it:

Start -> Run -> shutdown -a

go to microsoft.com and download the patch, dont try and do it through windows update ;)

i bet it comes back again. :)
make sure you patch up your windows with the online update tool. so it don't happen again
