right mouse click on the folder, properties, then sharing, then share this folder, click on permissions. you should have one called "everyone" click on add, add the users you want to access the folder, by typing in their usernames, ounce you are happy with the selection, delete the everyone user, then only them people that are listed can access it.

are you logged on as an administrator?

uh huh.
Well its at work.

I use a seperate PC to backup all the other 'My Documents' on the other PCs onto the 160gig hard drive of the backup pc.
ITs fine on all the other PCs with Win2k and Win98 but XP is being ghey!

Obviously we dont want the My documents public to everyone, but only accessable by the one backup pc.

Understand?

just share the folder and set the permissions to allow only certain users to access it
this will be better than trying to add a password

u want to share a folder with a password??

surely if u can log onto the PC with a password then why would u need a password on the folder?

u want to share (public) a folder with a password (private) dont make sense

Im trying to set a password on a XP Computer (or the my documents folder).
Im trying to share the My docs folder but with a password.
After i right click the folder, i can tick the box that says "share this folder with other people on the network", but that has no password.
The box above "make this folder private" will not allow me to tick it.

Basically i need to try and set the permissions for the folder, if anyone can send me in the right direction then that would be good.
