lads steam cleanin the egines fine as long as the electrical parts are coverd and all the wire ends are sealed, and if ur gonna do it, make sure u dnt point the jet of steam directly at and of the egine do it at about a 45 degree angle or wot i did from below (kept the bonnet down) all the grease and shit just slipped of with the condesation. Then before u drive it, ake sure that the electrical systems are still dry, clean them with a bit of elbow grease and then finnaly with the trusty haynes manual just make sure that all the aresa of the egine that need to be greased up have got grease on. job done, i got it all done profesionally at a place down in ipswich, cos me 50 quid for it but well worth it, its still clean now and that was some time last yr.

My mate did it to his newly rebuilt Cossie. Was running great. Introduced steam cleaner to engine bay. 10 minutes later, car wouldn't start. £300+ worth of electrical damage.

when the engine is wet, spray all the plastic and hoses with autoglym rubber and vinyl care. comes up really black and shiny.

At your own risk dude. I personally wouldn't ever do it. If you want it clean get stuck in with some gunk and elbow grease.....
