use a 40grade disk on a power sander, wont take half as long!
then shape the filler with 120 up to 600

r u onabout using p40 or whatever the trade name is fibreglass - cause thats more of a filler tbh

ur much better using a lighter core than MDF - something like a styrene based foam; plus its easier to shape

mdf basing coverd in cheap b&q mesh for the shape, then fibreglass over the mesh then filler to smothen and maybe quick little sand and then spray or cover

if u wanna do it amazing and can get hold of it - do it in pre-preg carbon ( pricey at £26 sq.m) but worth every penny. Looks amazing and u get a pre-determined and pregnated amount of resin - not too much and not too little

and my TV and dash pod is gonna be a similar constuction as well - but over a wire mesh core; for the structure

no - I was wroking on mine today - Im using chop strand matt with a layer of bi-axial fibreglass matting, then finishing with 320gm/m2 chop strand, with a poly-ethene resin - then finishing in gel coat - only a small amount of filler to be used, and will use bare p40, maybe a bit of chop strand if its too big a gap

Yes DONt make them a big block of filler lol, use fibreglass and just filler to help you get it perfect smooth.

a slight skim of filler over the top should be used to level any imperfections and allow a smoother finish

Kris TD

use as little filler as possible!

well i have been making some door pods, and started using fibre glass to get some of the shape, but i have found it easier using filler, is this wise?? or will it crack??
