I learnt to drive in an MG ZR, I've driven 1400 ZR rally cars, and i cant say I'm a big fan. The clutches come in way too late for me, and they're so heavy, feels like drivin a concrete block around, even when they're stripped out inside.

I'd go for something completely different - wait til the corsa gsi comes out later this year maybe

well, i had a corsa c, brand new, done 10,000 miles in it, and got a mg zr, never better. corsa was plastic.

The c" is 1.616v and is only putting out about 4bhp more. So the whole episode will just cost him money for a car which is probably just as quick if not quicker.

(Sorta what you said vibrio, in a round bout way)

I dont think he really knows what he wants, but he obviously has the constraint of the insurance here. He will trade n the MG which is about 2yrs old now, (black btw) and go for something about 12kish. I'm telling him to wait another 1yr as he's just turned 20. Build up a bit more NCB, and then even spend 8k on a well looked after faster car and he will have money towards insurance and mods. Does that not make sense?

All depends on what he wants, ie does he want a power car or a nice looking car that doesnt have a great deal of power:boggle:

i personally dont like the MGs but i think the C2 VTRs are nice the paddle shift is shite but if he can live with it its fine:look:

I think both are a bit shit tbh.

I've got the Citroen saleswoman hassling for a test drive in a VTR (no GT's available) but I don't know if I can be bothered.

One problem with that mate, we live in Norn Iron and insurance is 3 times as dear as what you pay.

Eg> My insurance for my MR2 is working out at £1038 through elephant and I tried it with my mates Dundee Address and it was something like £380!! Im 24, he's 20 so they just dont even quote you on something like a Scoob / Evo / MR2-Turbo if you are under 21.

My mate has a fairly nice MGZR, fairly std apart from Lexus rear clusters, 17" Meile's (sp) and a 5" Powerflow system with de-cat. He's only started with the ICE and all of a sudden he wants a C2 with the Paddel shift gears. NOOOOOOOOOOOO!! Said me. If your going to upgrade the car do so by more than 2/3 bhp! Am I right?
