apparantly its because of the huge amount of cameras, people are gettin banned too easily. Would be better removing the stupidly placed speed cameras, increasing motorway speed limits and not treatin us all like 4kin morons!

yes if they put the points down then they can keep more ppl from getting banned and hence they can make more money from them.

more ppl on the road means -

more road tax money
more speeding fines
more petrol being bought at highly taxed rates

all means more money. Its not about road safety anymore its about maximising money they can get from motorists.

They've just said on the radio that it won't be changing.

If any of you remember, quite a while ago I said this would happen. They're basically nicking so many people that too many people are getting banned, and thus driving without licenses and thus getting put in prison for it.

They want the money, so they would also prefere that you got nicked 6 times rather than 4

and finally - if points are less of an issue, more people will take the risk of speeding just a couple of mph over the limit and once again they will make more money.

I'm glad points are coming down, Ally - as soon as you start driving, you will notice what bastards the police are.

They will set up a police man with a radar gun over a crest of a hill on a straight motorway, nothing unsafe about going say 80-85 mph on a straight bit of road. but because you don't see the police man till your over the top and he's zapped you you get points???

If the police wern't so cheeky, I wouldn't mind - but anyone remember how they originally put speed camera's behind signs and bushes to catch people out?

they say its all to do with safety, but the company that controls the cameras is more interested in money!

the only way it will change is for it to go up so the government can screw even more money out of motorists

IntaCepta

doubt it would change, why would they need to change it?

Hmmmmmm, possibly might happen, will have to see :P

I think it should stay as it is, you shouldn't be speeding anyway :P

Penalty points to come down?

Theres a rumour that penalty points might be reduced to 2 points instead of 3 for speeding and wearing no seatbelt etc. Sounds a little bit more sensible
