I rag my Sxi to death, though I never redline it (no point, the powers not there) - and I regularily change the oil, check it over - get it serviced etc.

But as any 1.2 16v owner will tell you - the power is only between say 3.5-5.5k RPM so its constantly high up the rev range.

Anyway, Was driving to college today - in 2nd gear, floored it - got to about 5k rpm and heard a sort of clunking / crunching noise, changed to 3rd and it seemed to disapear - floored it again and it made the same noise - I originally thought, hmm cam belt gone? but then remember its A) chain driven, but B) it'd end up equalling complete death and this was still moving.

Anyway it went away again, and coming back later I was flooring it and went through a puddle and heard it again  - I think it was something to do with the water hitting my exhaust? or something...

I have a very raspy exhaust when its cold anyway, It would of been baking - and the road I heard it on was covered with puddles.

I hope thats what it is anyway :o

was a weird noise anyway.
