Yes.... the UNICHIP just takes the signals from the ECU and alters them acording to its map, hence piggy back.

3hrs..... i've travelled down to bloody londonish 3 or more time for car shit :lol:

Fife, or rather Dalgety Bay has a Dastek place. Dastek make the piggy back ECU's and rolling roads etc etc

You can get unichips all over the UK. If he has problems with the ECU fueling then this would help. If the fueling problem is not due to the ECU then the unichip would not help.

car went on the rollers at powerzone a few months back, standard 20xe only made 138bhp as the fuelling goes fubar at 5590 rpm -

PS - why do you think your ECU is buggered?

The car would run n stuff.... but you will prob think the cams are pretty gay till you get them mapped etc

You will still need a std ECU. A unichip is a piggy back ECU like the superchips ICON race thing.

ARP rod bolts can be had for about 70, and are easy to fit. I paid 350'ish for my UNICHIP including mapping.

Before was SUPERCHIPS attempt to map the car :lol: I kept the superchip in to use the higher rec/idle.

As you can see the unichip is FAR FAR better :)

Unichip is a piggyback so you still need the original ECU.

Superchips - utter shite. They are not normally mapped to your car. Just an off the shelve 'blank' map of what they think your car may need air/fuel ratio etc.

Unichip is much more diverse. Can be mapped (has to be mapped) +/-50% fueling every 200 or 400 rpm, full throttle, part, lift off etc etc. You will be best getting one of these when the cams are fitted to get the real gains. I had one on my x14xe.... had very impressive gains. Plots are in my garage. I will go look for them :)

For even better gains get a set of ARP rod bolts and up the rev limit to say 8k..... whooo hoooo :)

Frstly, whats the goin rate for a standard second hand 20xe ecu? I think mines gone duff, so ive found one on mig for £50.

Whats the difference between a superchip and a unichip? I know unichips are mappable but when i asked at a local superchips dealer they said theyd give superchips my engine spec and get me a suitable map, so whats the difference and which would be better, bearing in mind price? specs goin to be mild cams, filter and exhaust, possibly a nice exhaust manifold as well.
