I remember watching Sky News a few months ago when they were critisising companies for moving call centres to India... yet $ky themselves operate them. Gimps.

We got a indian call centre saves loads of money but not very good advert for corporate responsibility putting loads of people out of jobs to pay indians half as much, tis gay.

not all of them are 5p per minute, although many are!

As for the cost of staff etc, in comparision a basic technical support agent gets the exchange rate equivelent of £100 per month!

This isn't a huge amount, however when basing that it costs around 50p a pint of beer, £100 for a week in a 5star hotel/resort in Goa. The list can go on.

Their standard of living is poorer than ours, a lot poorer, so £100 is a considerable amount of money.

Call centre can run and pay staff of over 300, for the same size as a uk call centre runnign with 50 staff.

yeah i can understand it from a business point of view, i wasn't saying that. i wouldn't mind if it didn't cost 50p a min. its cheaper to call india directly.

Well the call centres cost less that half the amount to run per head, than a UK based one. And consider these staff will be getting paid very good wages compared to UK where they can be low, so the staff are m,ore likely to turn up.

I know of one call centre that has very poor staff turnout, thus has suffered.

I don't agree with them, it's just the job i'm doing means i've been involved.

Generally there not that bad, they have a lot of knowledge... just seems because their still very much a new venture for companies that the 'English' haven't taken to the support style. The Americans have had this call centre style for over 2 years, and the majority now used to it dont complain.

I still agree there is a lot to learn, many of the centres used basics scripts and are diverted by managment pressure from thinking for themselves
