Sorry I thought you meant the engine as a whole, ie. with head.

Do you work for Vauxhall, Dave?

what i mean is, the engine BLOCK. you dont get anything else. I thought you knew that?

Sam

You said they have the engines stock piled?

Cybermonkey

But you only get the head! nothing else!

Hmmm in that case I think I should find someone that works for Vauxhall and get me a few C20XEs then at cost price!

Believe me, Opel and Vauxhall have these engines stock-piled big time. The heads are brand new, and the C16XE is probably in abundance too, since it had to be removed from production cars on the assembly line due to increased emmisions laws.

If it were me, I would just get a second hand C20XE complete with gearbox and get the engine rebuilt, be much cheaper than buying everything new/nearly new from Vauxhall, even at trade price!

I reckon nearer £3k for everything including driveshafts, gearbox, plus all the little bits here and there, washer bottle, resevoirs etc etc!!!

You mean little bits like the wiring loom, gear box etc? I fear they will cost a whole lot more than a few £££ brand new from Vaux ;)

Cybermonkey

Yes i was about to mention that. i was reading on MIG and that price is for the block only. No loom, no manifolds, no nothing.

not got the engine yet, but the local vaux garage said there £1500 new, give or take a few £££'s for delivery and some other costs. Worth it though IMO, saves getting something with thousands of miles on & no clue to its history 99% of the time!

that price is for the block only.

lots of work being done, both under the bonnet and inside the car, completely new interior, need new chassis legs on the front so i can fit the 6 speed 'box as mines an 8v, and also cash is a slight problem, so its gona be as and when I can afford it!

Sorry m8 i meant a second hand engine???

PaulW

posted on 21st May 03 at 18:18

what a pre-built 2ltr corsa??? wheres the fun in that??
and yeah they did move onto the X20XE, but you can still get the C20XE, even the C16XE, but at a premium!! I think the C16XE is about £1000, not 100% sure though

where did you get the brand new c20xe? must have cost you a right penny all that!

PaulW

Time for me to take my car off the road for a whopping 12 MONTHS!!! to have a completely brand new C20XE bought, butchered, and then put in my car along with some other bits, new interior, 6 speed 'box... Should keep me busy!! Still looking for a garage I can hire out to store the car in and do the work a bit at a time, so its rotting on my drive as we speak!
