if u got a tomtom and it goes wrong ur screwed and have to have it sent away for like a month and it will prob come back with another problem, with a garmin if it does go wrong you say i want a new one even 12 months down the line and you get one.

I just bought a Tomtom XL Europe and its been a nightmare. It might just be a faulty unit???

It plenty big once you start using it. I've altered it so I just have a small bit of info at the bottom (speed, distance to go, ETA and next instruction) then the rest is map and it is fine (for me anyway!!)

Yeh I think I made the right choice......don't need an all singing all dancing one but I liked the idea of the traffic receiver.

I was quite surprised how small the screens are actually.

Good price!

I've got UK V3 and its been faultless. y9ou can transfer stuff between it really easily using supplied USB cable and either their software or a lot of it can be accessed via My Computer as if its a USB stick thing.

Maps and Speed Camera's can be updated and subscribed to for a small fee, although I think the first year gets free speed camera updates.

Will be looking at updating the map on mine sometime next year as its just starting to get confused on some of the new roads that are appearing lol.

I prefer TomTom to Garmin!

Was a seller on eBay all last week selling 100(per day) TomTom XL Europes for £99.99

They didn't hang around

If I go for one that doesn't take a memory card, is that a huge issue?

Can I still transfer stuff from my computer onto it? Like voices/new maps etc.....

Cool thanks. Think I might purchase this, looks like a good deal:

yup xl is just a wider screen

if you want extra memory to play with it etc then there is this, but it does cost more

Are they expandable?

Also the TomTom XL (wide one), is the only difference the size?

tomtom one v3 classic or v4

I'd like a sat nav. Not really sure if this should be in geek day or not.

Now I've always thought TomTom were the best but perhaps they are just marketed well.

The only feature I would quite like is the ability to add stuff like different maps and updated speed camera locations although this isn't a necessity.

I'm happy to spend around £100, maybe a bit more if it was worth it.

Thanks.
