i insured mine last week with a day insurance with norwhich union, but the car had no other policy active so its legal. there is a option when i did mine though come to think of it, which said "using relatives car temporarily" so def look into it, mine was like 12 for the day last week.

Really? So how are norwich union getting away with day policies? I'm not saying it in a cocky way by the way mate, just genuine question :)

im a underwriter for insurance, and i can 100% tell you that it is uber illegal to have more than one active policy on a car at once, not even day/week/month insurance would be legal, do you have driving other cars extension? another idea is to get maybe your dad to ring as your grandad and add you as a temp driver and pay the additional premium for it, yes its not right to get someone to ring on his behalf, but as long as grandad doesn't mind there shouldn't be a prob mate.

Plan B is to just dayinsure it for 28 days... This isn't illegal is it? I'm only asking because of what ive heard in this topic.

i thought it was illegal to have 2 insurances on one car because a double claim could be made?

So I couldnt add it as a temporary vehicle on my policy? I only ask, because it makes me wonder how dayinsure works if that's the case...

quote: Strictly speaking only the owner and keeper of a car on paper can insure it, in this case Ren, you can't add your grandad's car onto your policy as it's still insured by him with another company. Your Grandad will have to add you on as a Temp. Add. Driver...or someone will have to phone his insurance company pretending to be him

quote: I've got his consent already, I asked him before he left a few months back and he said it was fine - just dont crash it  But he's not going to phone up his insurance company from abroad, so im in a pickle

is it not possible to just ring your insurance and put that car on your policy?

Nah because if im insured on it, id be able to use it 7 days a week instead of relying on my dad. Im a bit of a ditz for not realising this in the first place  is it possible though? Grandad is abroad so phoning his insurance without him here is going to be tricky

i think you should be an additional driver on your grandads car since you will only use it on saturdays
