When i did mine i filled out my v5 with the new engine number and new cc and took it to my local dvla office along with my old tax disc and was issued with a new 1 with the higher tax duty, and new v5 came a few weeks later :)

right looking the at the dvla website and they say they might want to look at the car when registering an engine change?

anyone had to do this? or is it more for if it is going down in the engine size therefore wanting cheaper tax?

cheers
