quote:  The road works are about 5 miles long and there are big 50 signs everywhere and signs saying average speed check, at least every half mile probably. Also theres lots of big yellow poles with cameras looking down on you. Its quite clearly roadworks and a 50 limit. If you cant see or notice them you shouldnt be driving

The signs are there, they are between Junction 13 & 12, exceed 50mph and you will be caught, absolutely loads of people I know have been stupid enough to get caught along there.

quote: He said he was averaging 70mph in the whole roadworks. Thats not a case of not seeing the signs, it a case of ignoring them and doing 70 anyway, so now hes (hopefully) been caught for that. Theres no excuses really. In roadworks like those there always signs 3/4 of a mile away telling you its going to be 50, then signs at the roadworks telling you it is now 50, then signs every so often to tell you that its still 50, along with signs telling you there are speed cameras.

And the fact you were driving through road works with cones in the road.

I don't understand how you can miss the signs which say the speed limit, the signs which say average speed check and the bright yellow cameras on the massive blue poles hanging over the road.

quote: Me, no I never speed. I tootle around doing 20MPH. But, in any case. If there average speed cameras, it's common sense to stay at 50MPH through the works or whatever and then speed up afterwards. Not rocket science is it.

quote: my dear friend, the signs are big enough to see. I use the M1 and the M25, the signs are there everything 200 yards. if you can't se ethem, you shouldn't be driving due to being near blind:| Anyway, if you did it on only 1 cam, it should be fine imo. not on several cams

i was driving on the m4 towards london and near reading i entered a zone where average speed cameras were being used and a 50mph speed zone. i've never seen these cameras or heard of them before but i think i was averaging around 70mph. am i likely to get a ban for this? are there any ways of challenging the conviction. bearing in mind i haven't received anything yet as it was yesterday but i'm sure i've been caught. i've read that with these cameras they can only catch ypu if you get caught on a pair of linked cameras if travelling in the same lane throughout the zone. is this true? |
