You only lose the induction noise until you drill the airbox. Then you have the benefits of the airbox with the sound of a cone filter.

I did the same on my old GSi. Yeh you loose the induction noise, but it drives soooo much better.

K&N inductions kits just don't work on 16v Vauxhall engines (unless you get proper headshields, cold air feeds etc).

Think he means it pulls smoother which it did, and yeah i had an airbox on there, but put the K & N on for when people come viewing it as i thought they would like the sound of it :)

I pretty much always used the airbox with K & N panel filter, and does sound alot better, imo of course

The revs drop smoother and when you put your foot down say, in 4th at 30mph, it picks up better without bogging as much. Theres no flat spots either it seems to rise thru the rev range much smoother.

It sounds quieter, which in turn makes it sound a bit smoother, rather than a huge induction noise at 4k+

Sounds so much smoother :boggle:

Surely the induction noise would be virtually non exsistant? even with a K&N Panel filter

Ive just been out for a quick spin after removing my K&N induction that came with the car (AJones_17 old car) and refitting it with the standard air box with a K&N panel filter and OMG what a difference, sounds so much smoother and the response is greatly improved, i was a bit sceptical about swapping over but well pleased and i would definatly reccommend it!!

P.S Its a 1.6 16v sport
