I believe when Rob B fitted his 1.6, Asda simply insured it as a sport rather than a 1.2.

To be honest Ian, I think he'd rather sell the corsa alltogether!

It's been in & out of garages, with a total repair bill of over £800... still with no solution to the problem. Hence why we changed the engine.

I doubt he'd want to revert to another 1.0l, having lost all faith in the engine.

The question is still phrased in such a way to make you admit if its not how it left the factory, and its not.

How about finding another 1 litre?

Cheers Ally! Allthough he already planned to submit the new engine number to the DVLA to have the logbook changed, we weren't sure how we'd stand about the car having a different size engine to the factory spec.

Anyone know if Vauxhall made a Corsa GLS with a 1.2 16v? I should think they did, but it will help put my brother at ease.

im with asda (throught norwich union)

they quoted me 39.42 to stick a 1600 16v in for my 1200 8v... so i did it... when i rang up to tell them, they said they cant insure it. but i got it for the 39.42 cos they'd quoted me, and had to listen to old calls :D

just got the documents through today, and they'd taken my cat 1 off the policy (dunno why), so i rang up again, and she refunded me £32

so in total, the extra insurance on my 1.2 8v > 1.6 16v, was £7

My brother's Corsa 1.0l 12v GLS has been playing up recently, and after spending over £800 on the engine trying to solve the problem, I finally persuaded him to buy a different engine.

We could only find a 1.2 16v engine, and we fitted it this weekend.

He's rang the insurance (Norwich Union), and they've charged him £38 AND cancelled his insurance as of this Friday!! They say they will not insure anyone under 21 with "engine modifications"...

Can anyone reccomend an insurance company that will insure him (he's 18)?

The car has NO OTHER mods... and the engine was only swapped as a solution to the list of problems its had recently, NOT to try & make it a tarmac eating monster! :(

Cheers,
Stu
