Got a clarke compressor and Grav gun (also clarke)... it's good enough for me.

Got the comp from machine mart, was an ex display model so got it cheap... check out the little corner at the back of your machine mart store for a bargain.

u need;

A decent DA = £50
Compressor = £150ish
Gd spray Gun = £80ish

and then its all the little bits like filler, paint, primer, laquer, scrappers for applying filler, sanding block, sanding disks (make sure u get a velcro pad and interface pad for ur DA so u can change the pads over easy enough and have got a soft pad for edges and stuff!!

Get an electric orbital sander...

Also orbital sanders take lots of air too so a 150ltr compressor would be best

i have had a fair amount of stuff from machine mart, not compressors tho, best is to buy a book or go to a shop and discuss what you want the compressor for! need air masks etc for some paints. to small a compressor will be crap for spraying etc, need decent spray guns! it all adds up

Yeah just had a quick look & they aren't that dear really. Dont need anything too special, just enough to do a bit of spraying.

What brands are good to go for? Or does anyone do a starter kit or similar?

Machine Mart?

Snap on and Bluepoint compressors are supposed to be really good. Lots of money though, Maybe rental?

Will ask a mate about Guns (He's a sprayer)

Can you buy electric/air powered sanders/buffers? How much & where from?

Obviously the spray gun works off a compressor. What else is needed apart from these things?

For example what does a bodyshop use to sand down bodywork before it is painted. Including unpainted plastic trims (IE arch trims, bumpers etc)
