quote: If you mean the Vectra, it's got the usual P/R/N/D but you can shift the lever to the right (looks different in the pic I posted because it's LHD) and go up or down, and it will hold the engine in that gear unless you are doing like 10mph in 3rd then I think it just shifts it down to 2nd or 1st for you. Don't know about the Corsa one though - haven't actually driven an Easytronic one yet.

nice cars but defo go 4 the manual. i work at vaux n every1 hates the easytronic box. u drive it just like a normal manual except u dont have a clutch. the big down side is the time it actually takes 2 change gear. u really notice the front of the car dippin n hten raisin between gear changes.

could you physically change the gears or did you just select the maximun gear.

Out of interest - on the Vectra C, I once had an SRi auto hire car, it looked different to the easytronic in the Corsa, but you can drive it like a manual ie. 5 forward gears. I take it this is a different type of auto box, and not an easytronic?

4 speed autos are commonplace in the same way as 5 speed manuals are.

quote: It sounds like a clutchless manual to me. It has 5 forward gears just like a manual - a normal auto box only has 4.

I'm thinking of getting one on Choices finance deal and using my old Astra as p/x. Would suit me fine as this will be a brand spanker with a year's free insurance, plus I would only keep it for 3 years and give it back, then I don't have to worry about selling it etc. when I leave for Australia, and will only have to pay for 2 years insurance instead of 3. |
