its legally yours until you actually get the letter saying DVLA no longer have you has the owner.

I think it legally remains yours until you receive confirmation from DVLA that it's not any longer. Although if you have the slip from the V5 to say that you've 'sold' it, i would think you could wangle your way out of any unfortunate circumstances. :)

ok listen up....


i have an astra in MY name but i am not insured on it

my dad is insured to drive it

i want to drive it on MY insurance (i am covered on ANY car NOT in my name)

i swapped it to my mams name and have posted the log book off 2 days ago

is it legally still in my name or is it now in my mams name?

i dont want to drive it if it is in my name still (legally) as its classed as no insurance

dont want to pay £25 to swap insurance over as i am only taking it to sheffield and back and insurance runs out in 2 weeks anyway
