ALso, if you get your engine number then you will be able to do a part enquiry at a garage or spares shop - no cover removal needed ;)

Yes it is an early one - thats what I have.

I take it a 92' engine from a cav GSI is the early one???

I know that they'res more teeth on one belt than the other but how can I find out without taking the belt off??

Theres the early type belts where they don't have a tensioner and there are only too rollers, then there's the late type which has an extra roller on the oil pump which has thre auto tensioner on it. If you have 3 roller = late if 2 = early.

There is only one type of 20XE yes?
(forgetting the coscast head and valve seatings)

So how can there be an early and a late cambelt set-up?

My vaux garage is telling me that for one set-up its about £70 for parts (employee discount) but for the earlier XE it was over £140

:boggle: sounds like utter crap to me !
