im looking at getting VTR and have been quoted £750 on a 2001 reg. Ive got 1 years no claims been dring for 2 yrs 8 mths. Ive had my mum as 2nd driver for the past yr on my SRi and now on my Sport, and its halved it. Another tip is i got a quote through 'insuring a second car' on Elephant.co.uk, and it was well cheap, but when i rang up they quoted about £200 higher. When i asked why they said you get a discount for having two cars insured, but if i took out the policy and then cancelled the existing one a couple of days later, id still get the discount. Plus they dont charge you the £40 cancellation fee cos your still with them.

VTRs are only group 7 insurance , im 20 , 1ncb and i got a quote of £900 for one with norwich union , u should try there. also when u get a quoe say ur gunna do less than 5000 miles a year and put ur excess upto £350 or more, ur insurance should come down a bit

I've been looking at insurance for a 106 GTi. I'm 24 and got 2 NCB and they cheapest is £930ish, same for a VTS. I did a quote on a VTR just to see the difference, thinking it wouldn't be much from a VTS, and it came back with £560!!!

I believe Simon is correct, I had my Corsa GSi at 19 with 1 years NCB and paid £1560 TPF&T through Direct Line

Adding a parent doesn't always make it go down. On Elephant/Admiral etc, it does (they quote me £2100 FC for my car  ), but on Directline/Tesco, adding my parents made it go up (but they still quoted £900 less than Elephant). And the mileage makes very little difference, infact changing my mileage from 6,000 to 12,000 made no difference.
