was he giving it loads of wheel spin????

There is a clip on the gearbox that blows if you do this too much !!! it holds the diff together. One way of checking what's gone is to put it into gear and release the clutch if the speedo works and the car does not move then it's the clip if nothing happens the box is shafted!

You may ask why i know so much this is because i'm on my 4th Valver box :thumbs: :mad:

have a word with the bloke who sold it, you never know he might be willing to split repair costs or pay in full...got nout to lose ave ya mate!! :thumbs:

i was with him when he drove it back and i warned him not to drive it to hard until he was used to the car he was a bit nervous to be honest so he drove it rather sensibly he is not a fast driver

I reckon its just bad luck, he "bought it as seen" and if it has no warranty or anything then doesn't seem like you've gt a leg to stand on! :o Bad luck I guess mate.

mate of mine bought a clio 16v yesterday afternoon after spending all week looking at a few decided to buy this one for just under 2k was mint had just had mot (done at his friends garage) last friday passed with no problems but last night when driving it back to his house the gearbox went on it just wanted to know where would he stand legally if he contacted the guy he bought it off if he wanted some money or back or get the guy to pay for it or is it just down to bad luck and he is going to have to bare the cost himself
