Right, it is possible to get the cover off without cracking it, but dont expect to do it in a hurry. To make things easier get a mate to help you out. One of you needs to heat it up really hot with a hairdryer, the other needs to cut between the perspex and the plastic. Keep heating up areas and gently prising the two appart. It will come appart, just be patient.

As for the type that clips together Im pretty sure they were only on very early cars. I wanted to order a perspex cover from vauxhall, but the part has now been discontinued, and superceeded by the type thats bonded together. If you can get hold of just the perspex bit though im sure it'll fit.

Tigra clocks are like these:

These are out of a 1.6 sport, but you can't use them as you'll have a cable driven speedo . Also your dial surround wont fit properly :(.

Right i think thats everything .

Hope that helps :)

Sounds like its hit and miss with these then.
It doesn't depend on the year of the the car. Probably depends on the model.
Just keep looking I spose

strange, i got the post97 corsa and mine was bonded on.
i used a stanley knife and hacksaw, but i still cracked the perspex.

I'm now looking for a perspex that 'clips off'..

will get a pic of mine in a mo

Dont need to know how to get it off chuck cause I fecked it up
What I need now is a replacement that I can get off without doing the same thing again
I'll look into the Tigra one Marv, but I havent seen a Tigra at the local scrap yard since I've been going there(over a year now) so a second hand one will be hard to come by.
If I buy new, does the same principle apply with those, that the perspex clips off.
Oh and is it a direct replacement for the corsa. No mods??

Post P reg's can be cliped off.
The guy wouldnt say for sure if it was the same size/design as the one I have because its a different part number.
I'm tipping its the same, but will go to the scrap yard and get a post P reg one to try it.
Hopefully everything else will be the same i.e rev counter hazards indicators fogs etc.
And yeah, he priced up the perspex at £20 ish

I got an L reg corsa and my fascia just unclips. no glue. no bonding...

Clare, you can get the perspex off.

Just get a stanley knife, or possibly as said above a small hacksaw blade, and basically cut away at the glue.

Takes a while, but as long as you dont rush it, it'll come off fine, and be able to be glued back into place.

The whole thing comes off when unscrewed and you're left with a unit comprising of a clear perspex window (to see the clocks through) and a grey (in my case) plastic backing with holes cut out that goes over the clocks.
I tried prizing off the perspex and it did come away from some of the casing but it cracked in a few places so there must be another way of taking it off, or maybe, when I buy a new one, there may be a later model corsa b that the perspex bit comes off easily.

Ta bud, but I've got that bit out of the car. I'm trying to prize the plastic cover off now without breaking it to get inside that to put the dial surround on (nowt to do with the dials themselves)

if ya meaning the clocks surround??

i found it came off easier with undoing the steering column surround too

(3 or 4 screws underneath and 2 on front befind steering wheel (turn wheel to get to them ))
