No,from what I've read on MIG most of the jerkiness seems to come from a build up of pressure in the crankcase. Drlling the plate relieves this pressure as usually it has to get through a tiny little u bend.

I thought it came from burning unmetered "dirty" air but I plugged the breather pipes back in till I get round to getting a catch tank and it made a big difference.

Also, after I did it I found the oil pressure light coming on when the engine was hot and under load, turns out the crankshaft bearings that were used in the rebuild were faulty but it wasn't making the oil light come on until I did the breather mod.Just goes to show how useful a proper oil pressure gauge could be.

doesn't the jerkiness come from unmetered air tho, with breather going in after afm?
would you see benefits routing it infront of the afm or is it such a pathetic amount of air that its pointless?

The bigger of the two goes back between the throttle body and powercap/SFI. It is possible to t off to a catch tank to remove the oil then feed back into the throttle body yes.

You might aswell just vent to air though, that way the ony air the engine is getting goes through the AFM.

I think Bailey do a proper catch tank with filter, or you can use the Sprite bottle one!

doesn't the breather pipe go back into sfi box?
suppose it's different running a powercap?
can you put it through a catch tank then back into the inlet before afm?

Depends what you use as a catch tank:P

 you need a filter anyway.....

Breather pipe runs into catch-tank, filter off catch tank

You will be better off breathing to a catch tank in the long term, the filter will get full of oil after a bit.

It works a treat too, I even left the breather pipes on aswell, loads smoother at lower revs.
