Any good?

I went for the D-Link DSL-Router, with built-in firewall/VPN/etc......seems pretty good so far! :)

If you're running a firewall (software), that may have locked up on port 110......sometimes happens, weird to diagnose when it does......which is why the next step would have been to disable the firewall! :D

Firewall or upstream proxy blocking access to port 110?

The clue there was the fact it did it on all mail accounts but web still worked.

From a command prompt, try the following command:

telnet mail.adampetherick.co.uk 110

If you get a response something along the lines of the following, mail services are working fine and you have an Outlook problem. If you get an error message, there's a problem with your connection in general:

+OK X1 NT-POP3 Server sid.fasthosts.co.uk (IMail 6.02 111820-2)

Aha, someone else who knows of the ModemHelp website! :D

And the fact it's happening with all mail accounts would tend to point towards it not being fixed by removing and recreating all mail accounts......given recent problems, I'd be more inclined to suggest an NTL DNS issue.

remove and remake the mail account as thats a general error ,

so go to tools - accounts etc..

or

1. Can you get webpages? If so you may have the wrong mailserver typed in your account or the server may be down.

2. If you cannot get webpages hangup and try connecting again.

3. Reboot your computer and try again.

4. Still not working? Still not getting webpages? If so, treat as a normal "Not Moving Data" issue. (Check your DNS numbers, rip and reinstall TCP/IP, etc..)

it looks like the connection to OE has failed m8, might be NTL having problems with their mail servers :(
