bleed valve. bleeds air out so you get a bit more pressure but it decreases due to actutor. dawes can hold boost so long as the turbo can make it. on the GT it makes a bit more boost at 6000rpm but on the verge of strainning the turbo and too much boost for mine. better off with electronic controll. that way you can control boost on partial throttle. have a look on ebay for an apexi-AVC

sounds good to be able to run standard boost most the time, and then higher boost at flick of a switch

looks the same as a dawes device. apparently they are better than bleed valves.

Big boost is simply going to give you more power, but running big boost all the time also increases the chances of something going wrong, as well as costing you a packet in petrol. Heres the answer all the way from Australia a top notch dual stage boost controller that can be operated from your dash. During those moments when you fancy a race simply flip the switch and stick your turbo in hi-boost mode, for every day driving you can stick with normal boost. The switch can be flicked at any time, even when under full boost! The TurboXS Dual Stage Boost Controller is installed in line with the pressure hose running from the positive pressure side of the turbo to the waste gate actuator system. A switch is wired back to the cabin to switch between boost levels.
This is a nice alternative between the full on electronic boost controllers (very expensive) and a normal boost controller (cant be adjusted while driving). The switch is lit when on high boost.
