Q: Is the launch of Diesel Extra simply a re-branding exercise of your current diesel to allow Shell to catch up with BP?
A: Not at all, and actually quite the reverse. Shell has been at the forefront of fuels innovations for a number of years both in the UK, Europe and across the globe. Many of our recent product launches have been in the diesel sector – for example in the Czech Republic, Spain, Bulgaria, Italy, Hungary, Greece and Poland. In fact, we take it as a great compliment from BP that they have at last started to try to emulate our very successful fuels strategy.
Diesel Extra is absolutely not just a re-branding exercise – our new formulation offers a wide range of additional benefits when compared with Shell Diesel or standard competitor diesel fuels.
Q: What is the difference between BP Ultimate Diesel and Shell Diesel Extra?
A: Benchmarking tests, conducted by Shell Global Solutions at the Cheshire Innovations Park, have shown that Shell Diesel Extra offers similar detergency and cetane performance as BP Ultimate – without the price premium.
