yeah but these dont use Tech2 they use its own software and as long as car manufacturers use OBD / OBD2 and CAN then this will not need a update

there will always be new engines coming out - and with tech2 (vauxhall one) you have to get it updated so it can read the newer ECU's when they have new versions???
P0 P2 and P3 codes are set they will never change, p0170 will always be o2 sensor regardless of what car it is on vauxhall, ford, citroen.
This just doesnt take into account any new codes that could potentially come out.
Tech 2 is much more than a code reader, it also analyses data.
For someone with little mechanical knowledge a cheap sub £100 fault code reader like this one can be money well spent but in a garage they are a waste of time!

Taking orders for the first 10 of these units
I’ve used the previous version for the last 8 months
Works with most modern vehicles (all Vauxhalls/ Opel/GM after 1996)
Views all fault codes
Clears any fault codes found (you would have to fix the problem first or they will come back)
Checks lambda probes
Air flow
Cat’s ect ect

The CAN OBD II Code Reader Scanner is compatible with all OBD II compliant vehicles including those equipped with the next-generation protocol Control Area Network (CAN).
For your car or van to be OBD II compliant it must have a 16 pin data link connector and the Vehicle Emission Control Information Label must state that the vehicle is OBD II compliant too. Please note that this is not compatible with cars manufactured in Australia.
For specific compatibility information please check your vehicle’s user guide or with the manufacturer. Please do bear in mind that while I will do my very best to provide accurate information I cannot be held responsible in the unlikely event that this code reader does not work with a certain car or van.
