my bad....

We need to be at Racing Line sometime between 8:30am-9:00am sorry for the early start but we're expecting around 25 cars throughout the day so need to start early. Convoy and Directions are below

There is going to be one convoy point:
We are going to set off at 8:00am in the large layby coming off Junction 24 of the M62. As you come off The m62 at junction 24 (either east of west bound) follow the signs for Huddersfield. Before you reach the next roundabout you will see a layby on the left. Pull into that. We'll be setting off from the layby at 8:00am, so need you to be there before then.

For those of you with TomTom
The postcode is: HX3 6SG . Punch this into your TomTom and see you there

Directions from J24 of the M62
Take the second exit at the roundabout and head on the A629 towards Halifax.
Continue on this road until your reach Halifax.
Continue on the A629 and follow the signs through halifax town centre for Keighley.
As you leave Halifax town centre you will go on a dual carriageway that is high up above an industrial estate, this then merges into a single carriageway.
Around a mile after the dual carriageway has merged you will see a large car dealership on your right hand side called "Ron Lee".
Take the road on your right [Shay Lane] immediatley after this car garage.
Take the road on your left after around 500m called "Blackmires". At the top of the hill turn left into the industrial estate. The Racing Line is in the corner.

We hope to see you all there. If you think you are going to be late/bad at directions etc then PM me asap and I'll give you both mine and Wazpazs mobile number.

It couldnt be easier to get to though.

You shouldn't ever worry about putting your car on the rollers unless you drive it like miss daisy.

Basic checks: oil/water are all thats need for most cars.

Look forward to seeing you all there. As said previously though, if you havent' added your name to the list on MIG. you may NOT get to run depending on numbers. so I'd say if you are definately going to turn up to add your name to the list on MIG, or send me a U2u and get your deposit sent across :)

prefer pre-booking but understand people may turn up. if you just turn up though you risk not getting on - its 25 max cars and all pre-booked cars run first.

can we just turn up on day or do we need to pre-book?

DaveB

posted on 19th Feb 06 at 12:35

Thanks mate. We've got around 10 cars off MIG so far, no doubt more will turn up on the day. :)

Racing Line are also letting one of their customers put a 500bhp R34 GTR skyline on too at the end, so that should be lovely :D

ROLL UP.........ROLL UP........ROLL UP......... :D

We will be holding it at a new place in Halifax called "The Racing Line".

Taken from their website:
Welcome to the Racing line, Yorkshires Premier modification & tuning shop. Where modification madness is just an everyday occurrence. We can do everything from race engines to lambo door kits, you will not be dissapointed. We have performance stage kits for the popular models and these are currently being expanded to cover more & more models later in the year.

He gave us this letter in regards to a future RR:
The racing line Uk LTd can offer a shoot out days @ £30+VAT per vehicle.

Our dyno operator and assisting staff will talk to the vehicle owners so that we understand their aspirations and if their are any problems with the vehicle.

We hook the car up to the computera and record aquisition data every 2mph interval during acceleration.

At the end of the power run the vehicle owner will receive 2 power graphs. 1 showing wheel to road bhp and torque, and 1 showing flywheel bhp and torque. the owner will also receive acquisition data print out showing: mph, rpm, tractive effort, manifold pressure/vacumm, inlet air temp, air fule ration and lmabda.

After the run we will talk again to the vehicle owner to let them know if there are any problems detected and suggest further modifications to help reach their aspirations.

As opposed to Well Lane Turbo Centre in Batley where we went last year, Racing Line do things properly. They put various sensors on your car showing various pieces of information, as listed in the letter above. Furthermore if they see any problems; running lean etc the run will be halted immediatly before any problems occur. As a FURTHER plus they also use DETcans on the run, something which I've not really seen before at a RR shootout.

Because of the extra information that is received, prices are slightly increased but you are receiving a better service than normal. Prices will be £35 per car.

The printouts you receive are:

  • The Rolling Road IS 4wd
  • You ARE allowed to use nitrous if you wish
  • The Rollers are very capable of measuring high powered FWD cars; they have personally measured a car of 500bhp fwd (the turbo maestro from TOTB!)

We are booked in for March 26th
