The 1.6 were vented, but the discs were 20 mm thick, as opposed to the 24 mm thick of the 2.0 discs.

To answer about the Megane etc - if they have a puncture, such as a nail in the tyre, its fine.

If they have a blowout, they call a recovery truck :lol:

Ah right so only diff then is the 1.6 weren't vented then? Or thinner in general?

I may just ask to patch it up and do a good job of it then!

But with new cars like the megane they come as standard with tyre weld stuff, how do they manage?

That's what I was talking about Steve, if a front blew.

You jack up the rear and swap a good wheel off the car and fit the spare.

Then you wind the jack down and jack up the front of the car, remove the punctured wheel and fit the good wheel and tyre you removed off the back.

Get it? Oh, and as for the 14's fitting - Corsa 1.6 Sport and GSI models also came with 256 mm discs like the 2.0 Cav etc, although thinner, but they all came with 14's as standard.

What if the front blew? That be my main concern really!

14" fit on 2LT brake discs? Well i never knew that :lol: Praps i'll change my mind now then! Just get it repaired instead! lol

Well to the stage where i can poke at it and bits have come off leaving the floor visible!

Why would you need two jacks?

Jack up the back, remove rear wheel, fit spare, lower jack.

Jack up the front, remove punctured wheel, fit rear wheel, lower jack.

Simple! How bad is the rusting anyway? You could always just pick up a 14" spare from a scrapyard, this website, eBay etc very easily, and that will fit over the 2.0 brakes without an issue.

Well I'm hoping for a 2LT rear disc conversion as already have them on the front so my 13" spare wheel won't fit the front anyway! And i'd need 2 jacks anyway and i though just cutting the problem out of the car would be better than patching it up with weld!

Unless i get a space-saver wheel?

Its always worth having a spare Steve!

What brakes do you have/are you getting?

Its always useful to carry a spare, as tyreweld won't fix a blowout at all. Plus, in my case a standard 14" spare won't fit over my brakes, but if I get a puncture on the front, I'll just put a rear wheel onto the front and my spare on the rear, nice simple job!

Although I don't have to worry, I've got 5 Cesaro's anyway :lol: (well, actually I have 9, but don't need to carry them all at once!)

Basically my car's spare wheel well is rotting.

What i wanna do it cut i out and just blank it off basically as it's soon not gona be worth having a spare wheel (breaks too big) So got tyre weld and getting a portable pump instead :)

Anyone able to help let me know!
